De Martino, one of Chile’s most respected family wineries and a longtime leader in expressing the country’s diverse terroirs with precision, freshness, and authenticity, was recently recognized in Tim Atkin MW 2026 Chile Special Report. They once again received outstanding recognition, with several wines earning high scores and special accolades. The report particularly celebrates the winery’s work at its historic Isla de Maipo estate, where old vines, thoughtful farming, and restrained winemaking continue to produce some of Chile’s most compelling wines.
Two De Martino Wines Named “Top Wines of the Year”
Among the highlights, two wines from De Martino’s Single Vineyard range were included in Tim Atkin’s “Top Wines of the Year” list.
La Blanca Semillon 2024 — 95 Points
“One of a handful of top Semillons in Chile.”
La Blanca Semillon 2024 was recognized as one of Chile’s benchmark examples of this increasingly rare and distinctive variety. Grown in Isla de Maipo, the wine reflects De Martino’s dedication to reviving and elevating historic Chilean vineyard sites and traditional varieties through a modern lens.
La Cancha Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 — 95 Points
“A beautifully judged wine from the talented Nicolás Pérez.”
La Cancha Cabernet Sauvignon 2024 also received 95 points and was named among the report’s top red wines of the year. Tim Atkin’s note highlights both the balance of the wine and the skill of De Martino winemaker Nicolás Pérez, whose work continues to earn international attention.
First Growth Recognition Continues
De Martino also maintained its First Growth status in the Chile Report, with standout wines from Guarilihue in the Itata Valley receiving 94 points.
These include Viejas Tinajas Tinto 2025, made from Cinsault and fermented in century-old Chilean clay vessels, and Old Vine Series Las Olvidadas 2024, a blend of País and San Francisco from old vines in one of Chile’s most historically important regions.
These wines showcase the depth and originality of Itata, as well as De Martino’s commitment to preserving Chile’s winemaking heritage while crafting wines of energy, texture, and place.
Nicolás Pérez Recognized Among Chile’s Rising Talents
The 2026 report also shines a spotlight on winemaker Nicolás Pérez, who was nominated as a candidate for Young Winemaker of the Year and described as “a talented young winemaker.”
This recognition reflects the thoughtful direction of De Martino’s current winemaking team and the winery’s continued momentum across regions, varieties, and styles.
