Our Story
Beeslaar Wines is a small family-run business, specializing in the production of handcrafted, high-end Pinotage wines, originating from a single-vineyard site in the heart of the Cape Winelands.
Winemaker and owner Abrie Beeslaar is very skilled with Pinotage, having worked at the iconic Kanonkop Estate – famous for its production of world-class Pinotage, for over 20 years. After being offered the opportunity to work with Pinotage grapes from a unique parcel of land in the Simonsberg region just outside Stellenbosch, Abrie established Beeslaar Wines in 2011. His aim is to produce wines that embody and personify the many beautiful characteristics of a grape variety that was born and bred in South African soils.
Beeslaar Pinotage is recognized as one of the finest interpretations of this complex grape, known for its structure, freshness, complexity, and elegance. The 2.5-hectare vineyard is located on a south-easterly slope at 200 meters above sea level, featuring well-drained shale soils and benefiting from cooling summer winds that enhance grape quality.
