De Martino just got a serious nod from wine royalty. In her latest Financial Times article, “Who says Chilean wine is cheap and cheerful?” Master of Wine Jancis Robinson sets the record straight on Chilean wine’s growing global prestige – and De Martino is front and center.
Robinson singled out Alto de Piedras 2021 and Las Olvidadas 2022 as standout examples of what makes Chilean wine so compelling today: unique varietals, historic vineyards, and expressive terroir. She praised the Carmenère for its ripe, Merlot-like character and called Las Olvidadas “attention-grabbing” for its blend of País and the rare San Francisco grape.
With growing acclaim and a clear focus on quality and heritage, De Martino is proving that Chile isn’t just producing good value wines – it’s producing world-class ones.
