Our Story
Justino’s Madeira Wines, established in 1870, is one of the oldest and most renowned producers and exporters of Madeira wine, known for its high-quality offerings. With a state-of-the-art facility, Justino’s replicates the historic journeys that helped shape Madeira wines.
Located in Madeira, Portugal, the winery sources grapes from 800 of the island's 1600 wine growers. The island's volcanic soil and oceanic, tropically influenced climate with high rainfall present challenges like fungal diseases and botrytis. To mitigate these, vineyards are often planted in low trellises called latada and terraced steps known as poios.
Justino’s cultivates varieties such as Malmsey, Tinta Negra Mole, Sercial, Triunfo, Complexa, Verdelho, Bual, Terrantez, and occasionally Cabernet Sauvignon. The winemaking team includes Juan Teixeira and Dina Luis. The winery emphasizes sustainability, using solar panels for heating and temperature stabilization.
