Domaine de la Ferté

About

This estate spreads over 5 hectares (12.5 acres). The domaine de la Ferté is exclusively Pinot Noir planted and produces Givry and Givry Premier Cru. The vineyards were once property of the monks of the abbey La Ferté (first daughter-house of Citeaux), are situated on a south facing hillside with chalky clay soils. These 50 years old vineyards offer stylish and powerful wines.

Wine-lovers can taste wines from 5 estates run by the Devillard Family: Château de Chamirey, Domaine des Perdrix, Domaine de la Ferté, Domaine de la Garenne, Le Renard.

These vines that were planted in 1995 are surrounded by two Premier Crus. South east facing in deep clay soils. Aged 10 months in 228 liter Burgundian barrels of which 25% are new. Wild strawberries, fruity, supple.

Just over a half hectare of vines planted in the early 1970's in dense clay and silty soils. Natural yeast fermentation and then aged in 228 liter Burgundian barrels. Blackcurrant, anise, licorice.

Harvest & Vintage Notes
Planted in 1985 in a mix of clay and silt soils, with lower parts being rich in sand. Aged in 228 liter Burgundian barrels for about 10 months, 25% new. Cherries, blackcurrant, elegant.
