Isla de Maipo, Santiago

Our Story

Founded in 1934, the De Martino family has specialized in producing wines that reflect their origins from selected parcels across Chile for four generations. Led by Marco Antonio and Sebastián De Martino, the winery focuses on sustainable agriculture and traditional fermentation techniques to achieve purity, balance, and a strong sense of place.

Located in Isla de Maipo, Chile, De Martino's primary vineyards in Maipo feature gravel soils, ideal for Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. In Itata, they cultivate old vines on granite soils, producing Cinsault, Muscat, and Pais. Coastal vineyards in Limarí and Casablanca focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc, while Cachapoal and Maule specialize in old-vine field blends. Malleco grows Chardonnay in clay soils.

De Martino was the first Chilean winery to label a wine as Carmenere in 1996 and pioneered working with century-old vineyards in Itata. Their portfolio includes the De Martino Series, Single Vineyard wines, Itata Series, Old Vine Series, and D’Oro, featuring varieties such as Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillón, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, and Corinto. Winemaker Nicolás Pérez guides the winery, combining tradition with innovation.

Isla de Maipo

Reflecting a warmer, drier vintage, it is elegant and balanced, with a two-month maceration and élevage of four months in used barriques and 14 months in 2,500-liter oak foudre. It is serious and austere with toasty, balsamic, and medicinal notes, fine tannins, and a balanced but not very expressive profile.
