Cocconato

Our Story

The Bava family has been cultivating grape vines in Cocconato, Monferrato Astigiano, since 1600. In 1911, they built their first wine cellar, and over six generations, they've produced renowned wines, particularly Barbera. Their estate now includes fifty hectares of vineyards and twenty hectares of natural fields in Monferrato and Langa, all managed sustainably.

Bava also manages vineyards in Agliano and Castiglione Falletto, each contributing unique wines. By the 1950s, Bava wines gained acclaim, expanding distribution throughout Italy and internationally. Pioneering the use of barriques since 1975, their cellars now feature custom-built steel fermentation barrels with temperature control, dedicated to both red and aromatic wines.

The Bava family includes Piero, Roberto, Giulio, Paolo, Francesca, and Giorgio. Their 125-acre vineyards in Monferrato and Langhe prioritize environmentally friendly practices, including grass covering, non-synthetic fertilizers, and lightweight glass bottles to reduce emissions.
