An Approach to Relaxation

About

USA born sommeliers Richard and Carla Rza Betts have a long said great Grenache is the warm climate analogy of Pinot Noir. They searched the world for the sandy terroir and cool climate that would give the best Grenache that extra something special. Their search came to an end in Vine Vale, where they discovered a 150+ year-old Grenache vineyard (The Rza Block) set on sandy soil in one of coolest microclimates in the Barossa Valley. The vines are own-rooted, head-trained, and dry- and organically farmed. From this tiny vineyard they make their Sucette Grenache–an elegant but ample, sexy and delicious bottle.

Vine Valley, Barossa Valley

Harvest & Vintage Notes
The 60 - 65 year Semillon in this Semillon and Sauvignon Blanc blend is dry grown and organically farmed on its own rootstock. The cool climate of Vine Vale in the Barossa coupled with the well draining sandy soils allow for a delicate style of Semillon. Bottled unfined and unfiltered after fermentation and aging in 2 and 3 year old French barrels. Lemon curd, honey, mineral backbone.

Sucette

Harvest & Vintage Notes
The youngest Grenache in this 100% varietal wine is 90 years old. The oldest Grenache was planted in 1867, a block that is now called the Rza block. Both of these vineyards are dry farmed and on their own root stock in the Vine Vale of the Barossa - at the foot of Eden Valley. Open top fermentation with some whole clusters and then aged in old French barrels. Black raspberry, white pepper, lavendar.
