Isla de Maipo, Santiago
Our Story
Founded in 1934, the De Martino family has specialized in producing wines that reflect their origins from selected parcels across Chile for four generations. Led by Marco Antonio and Sebastián De Martino, the winery focuses on sustainable agriculture and traditional fermentation techniques to achieve purity, balance, and a strong sense of place.
Located in Isla de Maipo, Chile, De Martino's primary vineyards in Maipo feature gravel soils, ideal for Carmenere and Cabernet Sauvignon. In Itata, they cultivate old vines on granite soils, producing Cinsault, Muscat, and Pais. Coastal vineyards in Limarí and Casablanca focus on Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Sauvignon Blanc, while Cachapoal and Maule specialize in old-vine field blends. Malleco grows Chardonnay in clay soils.
De Martino was the first Chilean winery to label a wine as Carmenere in 1996 and pioneered working with century-old vineyards in Itata. Their portfolio includes the De Martino Series, Single Vineyard wines, Itata Series, Old Vine Series, and D’Oro, featuring varieties such as Carmenere, Cabernet Sauvignon, Malbec, Carignan, Cinsault, Syrah, Pinot Noir, Chardonnay, Semillón, Sauvignon Blanc, Muscat, and Corinto. Winemaker Nicolás Pérez guides the winery, combining tradition with innovation.
Wines
Alto de Piedras Carmenere
De Martino
Maipo Valley
This was the first wine truthfully labeled as Carmenere (instead of Merlot) to be exported out of Chile. It is their flagship Carmenere. Native yeast fermentation in stainless steel and aged in 2500 liter foudre for 24 months. Black fruit, cocoa spice, elegance.
Cuvée Gran Vino
De Martino
Isla de Maipo
The top 2020 Cuvée, produced from 88% Cabernet Sauvignon, 9% Malbec, and 3% Petit Verdot from Isla de Maipo vineyards, has 13% alcohol. Reflecting a warmer, drier vintage, it is elegant and balanced, with a two-month maceration and élevage of four months in used barriques and 14 months in 2,500-liter oak foudre. It is serious and austere with toasty, balsamic, and medicinal notes, fine tannins, and a balanced but not very expressive profile. Best enjoyed between 2023 and 2028 according to Luis Gutiérrez, Wine Advocate
Estate Cabernet Sauvignon
De Martino
Maipo Valley
Mild Mediterranean climate of the Maipo, deep grave soils, all stainless steel. Is there a fresher, easier-drinking style of a BTG priced Cabernet Sauvignon? We'd love to know about it if there is. Blackcurrant, cassis, crisp acidity.
Estate Carmenere
De Martino
Maipo Valley
100% Carmenere planted in the deep gravel soils of Maipo. Spontaneous and malolactic fermentation in stainless steel and then aged for about 8 months in older French oak and concrete vats. Ripe red and blue fruit, spices, cocoa.

Gallardia Cinsault
De Martino
Itata Valley
Dry farmed, China plowed, bush vines of Cinsault are grown in the granite soils of the Itata Valley. The undulating hills and cool climate of the Guarilihue region of Itata contribute to the textural complexity of this wine. Naturally fermented. Dark cherry, floral, mineral.
Gallardia Old Vine White
De Martino
Itata Valley
Gallardía is a fresh and highly food-friendly wine. "De Martino is always a reliable name in quality in Chile. The Gallardia Cinsault is good value, but this has a real intrigue: a blend of 70% Muscat and 30% Corinto (aka Chasselas) from a vineyard planted in 1905. Aromatic, fresh and dry, its full of mineral-edged stone fruit, gentle nutty tones and brisk acidity." — Decanter
La Cancha Cabernet Sauvignon
De Martino
Maipo Valley
The aspect and proximity to the Maipo river of this vineyard gives these vines a direct current of cooling ocean breezes. A combination of stainless steel and 5000 liter foudres for fermentation, and then aged for 24 months in 2500 liter foudres. Cassis, graphite, agability.

No sulphites added at any point, including bottling. Red fruit, herbs, earth.
Legado Cabernet Sauvignon
De Martino
Maipo Valley
The workhorse of all things De Martino. China (Chee-na) is the actual horse of all things De Martino, but Legado Cabernet Sauvignon is the wine that never stops delivering.
