Our Story
Broadbent Port was founded in 1994 by Bartholomew Broadbent, whose deep roots in the world of fine wine helped reignite appreciation for Port in North America. The inaugural vintage quickly earned acclaim, taking Best in Show at the Aspen Food & Wine Classic’s vintage Port tasting.
From the beginning, Broadbent Port has been shaped by close collaboration with some of the Douro’s most respected winemakers. Over the years, Bartholomew has worked alongside talents such as Dirk Niepoort, Luis Sottomayor, John L. Graham, and Ricardo Nunes—each bringing their own perspective and craftsmanship to the wines. These partnerships have allowed Broadbent to evolve while remaining true to its core values: character, quality, and authenticity.
Wines
10yr Tawny Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Our 10 Year is blend of tawny ports aged 8 to 15 years. So quaffable, so quenching. Crunchy red fruit, acidity, serve over ice.
20yr Tawny Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Not our oldest, but our flagship tawny. Fermented in lagares on the skins to allow for beautiful flavor development. A blend of wines aged 15 to 30 years. The epitome of balance. Hint of red fruit, dried stone fruit, elegant.
30yr Tawny Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Made in minute quantities because it is rare that a port will mature this long. A blend of wines 25 to 40 years old. This is our first 30 year tawny and we couldn't be prouder. Dried fruit, mixed nuts, silk.
Auction Reserve Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Broadbent Auction Reserve is a meticulously crafted small-batch Port, blending top-quality Ports of varying ages for a consistent taste. It delivers sophistication, elegance, depth, and power—positioning itself just below the prestige of a Vintage Port. With juicy notes of crushed red plum and dark cherry, it finishes with hints of black pepper and slate, adding a crisp, refined edge.
LBV Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Produced using “Traditional” Porto Wine technology, and aged in oak “balseiros” (large casks with greater wine-to-wood ratio). Final blend is made after a rigorous selection process, using wines befitting the quality and style of an LBV. Intense and complex, black & red fruits, tobacco box, slightly floral and balsamic.
Port – Vintage
Broadbent – Port
Douro
Our tawny ports are so fresh and balanced they can be drunk as aperitifs. Starting with our youngest, this tawny is made in stainlees steel, stone lagares, and older casks. Red fruit, nutty, soft.
White Port
Broadbent – Port
Douro
The white port for all Porto Tonicos - a little lemon and basil or a little lime and mint and you have a low alcohol, refreshing cocktail. We always recommend the lime-based Swaan tonic from Badenhorst. Honey, nutty, perfectly sweet.
